This year, we are proud to be share the fruits of our new Education Programme. Africa Writes: Young Voices 2017 has been developed over the last year through a series of dynamic creative writing workshops for schools, using African art, photography, music and literature as stimulus.
Over 150 students from ten secondary schools across London have taken part in dynamic creative writing workshops facilitated by poets, writers and teachers in galleries and museums showcasing the richness of African arts and culture. Now they are ready to share their fresh new work on stage through spoken word performance.
The young poets will be joined by poets and facilitators: Nick Makoha, Rachel Long and Theresa Lola (Octavia Poets), Zaahida Nabarega and Marcelle Mateki Akita (Afrikult.) and Joanna Brown (Royal African Society).
Caleb Femi, Young People’s Laureate for London, is hosting.
