Paying tribute to the pioneering Nigerian writer with Sylvester Onwordi, Margaret Busby, Louisa Egbunike, Kadija George and Ade Solanke.

Buchi Emecheta was a Nigerian author who received great acclaim for her work internationally as the author of more than 20 books. In this event we chart Emecheta’s story, from Ibusa in Delta State, to the Liverpool Docks to Kentish Town in London. We look at her career and literary work that includes captivating stories reflecting her experience as an immigrant and single parent in 1960s Britain, to evocative tales of village life in Nigeria. Join us as we remember the journey of this pioneering woman writer.
